Worth It

Being a mom makes me tired. Today and yesterday felt like mess after mess after mess. Now, instead of collapsing (or doing the dinner dishes) I'm heading out the door to my last knitting class. Thought I'd post these real quick first. They're leftovers from Arts Fest.

Shenanigans

Here's what paraded into the family room shortly after I posted my last entry.
These two are a crack up.
Friday night the two clowns went to stay with their grandparents so Pete and I could go to a Phish concert. The show was in Bridgeview, at Toyota Park where the Chicago Fire play soccer. I've been wanting to go to a soccer match, but the concert was pretty great too.
We searched online for an interesting place to eat before the show and found a place called Grand Dukes. It was Lithuanian and we thought we might also catch a World Cup game, but none were on at the time. The food was interesting and delicious, as was the beer. For the record I did have a green salad in addition to this plate of beige food.
We left our camera in the car, but took this parking lot photo before the show. The parking lot was the typical scene before a Phish show, but it did seem that, since the last time we've been to a show- several years ago, the car quality has improved. I suspect the median fan age is older and that most are now employed.
Pete did take this picture with his iphone. By the beginning of the encore the 2nd hand smoke was getting to me, and maybe the stadium Mai Tai that I drank as well... So we ducked out a little early. This made for a nice, quick exit.
All in all I'm pleased to know that I'm not too old for a Phish show!

Last Day!

This big guy had his last day at day care/pre-school this week. Raise your hand if you can't believe he'll be at kindergarten in the fall.Do you think the two would let me get a good picture?
Just one, where they're both looking at the camera and not showing off their underthings?
Maybe over by the tree?
Wait, there's a stick...
Sticks are fun.
How about a couple of cheesy smiles?
Finally we gave up and drove to school. Henry's best pal Ryan was on his way inside too, so we got a picture with him.
We tried for another one with Clara. Granted, it was a little sunny in their faces...
Here's Henry in his classroom.
Here he is in his cubby.
And pointing to the crayons and legos.
I love the look on his face here.
And finally, standing by his cot, which probably did not see a lot of Henry with closed eyes.

In other "growing up" news, Clara made her first poop on the toilet this morning!!!!

Swamped

We're still here, just feeling a little swamped. The end of school means working a full week for me (I know, shocking, how could I even survive?) and alternate arrangements for the kids. We've also had lots of social occasions, spending time with neighbors and Sharon and the girls returning. We moved Clara to a big-girl bed and that's made bedtime more challenging and drawn-out. We went to IC for the weekend for Arts Fest and stayed in Amber and Jeff's basement suite. Now Pete's been out of town for a few nights for work. So everything is great, but by the time I get the kids down and have a seat on the couch I hardly want to look at my computer- and that's also when I'm trying to catch up on the five-or-so knitting projects I have to finish soon! Here are some photos of some of the aforementioned things. And now I have to run off and tidy up the 3rd bedroom for Will to sleep in tonight. Oh and something about dinner....
