Florida Vacation Day 1

We got into Florida Saturday afternoon, met up with Pete's parents at the airport and collected our rental- an orange minivan. The orange was a brilliant choice for finding our vehicle throughout the week. We had some dinner, took a quick swim at the hotel and went to bed. We knew we were going to have to make the most of Sunday, as it looked like it might be the only sunny day during our stay. We got up bright and early, found a good parking place at Magic Kingdom and jumped on the monorail.
Here we are in our very first line. We got into the park as soon as it opened, and knew which rides to hit first, so our waits were really minimal.
Dumbo!
We also rode on the Peter Pan ride.
Checked out the Hundred Acre Wood as we went in for the Winnie The Pooh adventure.
Left the stroller with Grandma and Bampa while we rode the teacups.
Used the Fastpass to take a ride on Splash Mountain. Pete and I went with Henry. Immediately upon finishing the ride Henry said "I want to go again!!" Since I had used all 6 tickets to get a fastpass we still had 3 left, so Pete and Henry took Bampa and sat in the front row for a second ride. That's Pete with his arms up in the picture.
Then we explored Tom Sawyer's island.
After a bit of lunch we went up in the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse.
While we waited for our fastpass time for the Jungle Cruise we rode Aladdin's magic carpet ride and had a Dole Whip. It was a perfect treat for such a hot day.
Then we took the jungle cruise.
We stumbled upon a parade on our way out. Clara was very excited for her first glimpse of Micky and Minnie.
We stopped to try on some hats and bought Henry and Clara some ears with their names (as seen in the previous post).
Clara also enjoyed the furry princess ears. She was greeted as "Princess" by most "cast members" in the park. She usually responded with "I NOT a PRINCESS!"
Henry liked this one.
We also rode Snow White's Scary Adventure and the carousel that day. I'm probably leaving something out....
We were all pretty pooped that night, but I managed to take the kids to the pool while Pete and his parents went to the grocery to stock the time-share kitchen. We had frozen pizza for dinner and enjoyed a drink and some reading on our little porch. All in all it was a perfect day!
Stay tuned for further adventures and pictures of all of the characters the kids met!
