We painted Henry's room on Sunday. Mom was here, and not very happy with us about painting over Pooh.
It did seem a little sad to paint over it, but we didn't want it there anymore. It felt like someone else's room. It took some thick primer and two coats of "Blue Collar" but now the room is beginning to look like Henry's. The closet doors are still just covered in primer. We'll paint them white when we paint the trim and put down new quarter-round at the base of the walls.
You can see that we kept the ceiling the way it was-painted like the sky. It actually works pretty well.
I did keep one little reminder of the mural. It just barely peeks up over the dresser. In this picture you can see that the blue actually has a periwinkle tint to it, which is what I really like.
The paneling was a pain to paint. The roller didn't really work, because of all the cracks and crevices. That made for a very tiring job. Now we need to put up new blinds (replace that pink one) and new rods for his valances. We also need to frame and/or hang some things. We won't be putting his changing table back in the room, and we may keep the glider in the third bedroom. It's turning into a real big boy room!
Next up...? Maybe the kitchen? Maybe our bedroom? Perhaps Prince Kyle's room...!

i think pooh was rather scary, anyway. there was way too much going on in that mural. i prefer the serene blue walls, too! good work! - we painted our den that has paneling and found hand painting the grooves necessary, followed by a 4" roller. i love the 4" roller.
