Clara The Patient

Yikes. So in the few days since Betsy's last post, things have gotten a little interesting. As previously mentioned, our little Clara has been dealing with a cold that's included wheezing and labored breathing. Betsy took her to our new pediatrician a precaution on Thursday afternoon. I came home early to be with Henry, and the next thing we knew, Betsy was taking Clara to get checked out at the hospital!

Here she is on the ER cot, displaying her fine issued "nightgown":

Turns out she's got a viral form of pneumonia! In the 24 hours since admission, I'm glad to say she's progressing well. This is obviously NOT what I envisioned us doing to celebrate her 1st month birthday today. We're hoping to have her home before the weekend is out.

They did give her an IV to make sure she's getting ample fluids. The splint looks a lot worse in the picture, but it's still tough to see her all hooked up. The blue hose in the upper left is giving her humidified air.

Henry and I have been holding down the home front pretty well, though we miss Mom and Clara lots. But he's also enjoyed some quality time with Grandma and Bampa while I've been at the hospital - snowman building, reading, and just hanging out.

More news to come - we appreciate all the positive thoughts sent our way! Keep them coming.
