Status Report

We had a pretty good night last night. Clara has had a couple big spit-ups after nursing, which is a challenge now because it means she might lose some of her antibiotic. Also, it's just unpleasant. I think she's mostly doing it because she has so much mucus in there and she coughs and one thing leads to another.
She's been a little bit more needy than she was at the hospital. I'm hoping it's because she's feeling better. I have to admit that part of me does miss the security of the oxygen monitor- though I don't miss the obnoxious beeping noise that it made every time she moved her foot. You may be familiar with that monitor- it's the little red E.T. light that is usually attached to a patient's finger. Clara had hers on her toe.
Here's a photo of her right now, with all her recuperation accoutrements (with the French accent, please):
Peanut, the elephant I couldn't resist getting for her at the hospital gift shop, her medication syringe and the respiratory thumper thing.
Saline and the bulb syringe for suctioning bothersome stuff from the nose. And her new friend the pacifier. Also note that she's wearing her pink Hawkeye outfit- a favorite on loan from cousin Eleanor. And those of you familiar with the household will also see Dory (Henry's favorite cuddle-friend) in the background of this photo.
And here's Little Miss Bright Eyes. Even though she's sorely in need of a bath (it's too darn cold today!) she's still getting cuter every day.

Thanks for the continuing updates. Peanuts is very cute....I wouldn't have been able to resist either! Glad Henry is sharing Dory. What a nice brother. Those last few photos were great....I can see her changing. What a cutie.

B, P & H:

SO sorry to visit tonight and hear about Miss Clara's travails. Glad she has a good doc and that she was able to come home and be cared for there -- remember to take a big breath now and again yourselves!

Oh my golly. Poor thing(s). Clara can now add looking super-well to the list that includes "beautiful," "cute," "sweet"... Oh, and I'd like to have a talk with that nurse.
