Go Cubs, Go!

Henry attended his first Cubs game today and came home with a win and a new ball! Pete had some complimentary tickets from a firm he works with. We invited our friends Kerri and Joe to go with us. They decided to keep their little Molly at home, but we still enjoyed their company. The seats around us were pretty open, so Henry was able to have his own spot. Big surprise, though, that he preferred sitting on our laps. Henry tried out a little bit of hot dog and shared some ice cream with Papa. The Cubs beat the Pirates 6-1. On our way out of the park a man was helping load up the Pirates' gear and he handed Henry a baseball! Henry was thrilled and would not let that thing go all the way back to the car. Pete even said "can I see your ball?" and Henry answered with his standard polite little "no?" He's keeping it so he'll be all ready for his next game...probably next summer.

Start teaching him the grip for the split-fingered fastball! My Dad and I caught a foul ball hit by a Cub against the Giants in a game in old Candlestick Park in San Francisco many years ago. Me thinks one of my kids played with the ball, and so now I don't know where that ball might be. I recall that Ivan Dejesus hit it.
