Ravinia, Painting and a Bachelor Auction

It's been a full weekend, and it's not even Sunday!
Last night we went to Ravinia for a CSO concert. We met Pete's parents there for a little dinner, a little wine and Dove bars all around. Henry talked Grandma into a new sweatshirt and a few cookies.

Also, while Joyce was here, we tried to clean off the dining room table and organize the shelves. Then I decided it was time to just go ahead and paint. The taping probably took longer than the painting itself. Pete and I chose a lavendar for the dining room wall and a paler version for the back of the shelves. I did two coats and will probably leave it at that. I might attempt the walls tomorrow, but that means I have to move the china cabinet.

After the painting we finally made it over to Northbrook Days. After a short wander through the rides and food booths we settled on some Johnsonville brats and lemonade. While Pete went to get some chicken fingers for him, Henry fell asleep. We strolled him over to the bachelor auction- not to participate- just to watch. It was some pretty good stuff. The bachelors ranged in age from 21 to 85. The younger guys hardly brought in anything, but some of the older fellas went for $400-$600! We didn't do any rides or games...Henry's too little for anything except the train, which we would have done if it were anything more than a ride around a track the size of a mobile home.

After all that Henry decided to wake up for the ride home. He didn't really want to go down for bed, so we took him for a drive and then tucked him in. However, he has just wandered into the kitchen with his blankie. Looks like maybe it's bed for all of us. We need our rest anyway. Tomorrow afternoon is Henry's first Cubs game! Stay tuned for more photos.

lovely! looks like a great visit with my favorite aunt of yours! (this is not really fair, because I don't know your other aunts very well, but I do really like Joyce!) love the lavendar. the shelving looks great and not cluttered in a feng shui way! :)
